Shakespeare by Deligaris Shakespeare by Deligaris
This is one of a series of renderings based on 3d scans from the original impressions of various historical personalities. The 3d geometry was reconstructed and optimized, then a hi-res texture was created, according to the corresponding historical references of each person.

These faces were created for The Yafka Studio, in order to be used in The History Channel's documentary "DEATH MASKS".

"this looks like a finished face model for a game character!"
This is too good for that

Of all the skill and work it took to give Shakespeare's face life again...and all you can think about is sex.

Par for the demographic course, I guess...

Being that this is a death mask and we do not have any photographic images of Shakespeare, I doubt there would be version with his eyes open. Especially since this was made 4 years ago XD

The fact that this was made 4 years ago, has nothing to do with the fact, that in those days there was the painting; to fill the lack of the photographic devices.
There are some versions of him with eyes open; Look: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portrait…
I assume that if Deligaris made his skin tone with all the freckles and moles, he also can or could make a version of this with eyes open. But, yes, that would not be a death mask. (:

The point I was making by the whole "4 years ago" was that he probably wasn't planning on doing a version with open eyes, that's all lol
I just figured paintings wouldn't be as accurate as a death mask, I'm no painter, so I wouldn't know.
I suppose you are right, I just figured that Deligaris used the dimensions of the death mask to make the face, I wouldn't doubt that he could make it with open eyes, I just wasn't sure how accurate it would be. I know there are paintings of Shakespeare with his eyes open, I just don't know how easy it would be to match it up with the death mask.

I wasn't putting anyone down, I was just saying that I doubt the artist would go back and do a version with open eyes after so many years.

:huggle:  I get it. Thanks for clarifying your statement. lol
Well, paintings can be really accurate. There were in those days such talented artists for ex. Caravaggio, who made very realistic, photo-like paintings.

Thanks! This is quite a long topic, but there are plenty of tutorials and resources on the internet. A bit of search and a lot of practice will do the trick. ;)
At least that's what I do.
