Digital Painting Tutorial by Deligaris Digital Painting Tutorial by Deligaris
At last, here is my first much requested and long awaited tutorial in digital painting, using Photoshop.
The tutorial describes step by step the creation process of the Dreamy Forest.
Press "Down to Desktop" to download the .zip file containing the HTML version with the tutorial and the images.
I hope you like it! :D

This is really cool! I've always wanted desperately to PS paint, but have been having such trouble figuring out where and how to start. Tuts like this are really helpful. Stunning final product you have there, by the way :D

Hi. I have certain doubts.

How do you do such distinct shading, for example the shading between the elf's left arm and thigh.

How big do you work?

Thanks! :)

Hi, for delails or refining edges, I use a sharp or small-sized brush, if that's what you mean.

very nicely rendered, may be any tips for rendering leaves and foliage? thanks for sharing!

Thank you :)
The basic idea for rendering leaves and foliage is to paint the "impression" of their general form and volume, rather than painting each leaf separately.

You've got some cool ideas, thanx. Btw, did you know you can zoom in and out by
ctrl + and ctrl - ? Eliminates the mouse when zooming entirely

First extract the whole zip somewhere, then try to open the html. Don't move any of the files inside. Then it should work I guess...

Your tutorial helped me a lot! But I have one question, and that is, how do you get the shading and lighting to be so smooth? Did you do any smudging at all?

Keep up the good work!!

Thanks, glad that I helped a bit :)
Well, I guess having a tablet it's easier to control the flow of the brush and making shadows/lighs smoother. Otherwise you can try lowering considerably the opacity/flow of your brush for better control.

Adding this to my favorites, so I can download it when I get home. I can't believe the amazing work you create in PS. I can't even get it to do the basic stuff the help says it's supposed to do.
